Father George Smiga, STD, Professor of Scripture and Homiletics, appears in the Winter 2019 issue of Human Development. His article is entitled, “An Invitation to Integrity: A New Look at the Parable of the Talents”.
“Parables are slippery. Intentionally so. The genius of parables is that they refuse to settle down with any one meaning. As new insights, circumstances, and interpreters approach them, they open themselves over and over to fresh truths which upset our preoccupations. This is likely what made parables so attractive to Jesus. Their multiple possibilities were will suited to his startling proclamation of the Kingdom of God. The Parable of the Talents is a well-known parable of Jesus. This article will suggest that we can open it to find an invitation to personal integrity.”
